History
Serena House was built in 1871 by the mine agent, Mr. Peter Temby. In 1891 Edward Pascoe (the Great Grandfather of the current owner, Mellyn Burrows) came to live here. He was the Captain of Tregeagle Mine and manager of the underground slate quarries at Quarry Wood (now Carnglaze).

Edward’s youngest son, William Arthur Pascoe and his wife Alice (nee Lobb)
then occupied the house. Five of their six children were born here, the youngest being Mellyn’s Father.
The Pascoes lived here for 31 years before moving to Carnglaze, where her Father grew up. Serena House was then occupied by relatives, the Lobbs, who used part of the house as a village butcher’s shop and dairy from the 1930’s until the early 1990’s.
Mellyn and her family returned in 1995, so descendents of the Pascoe Family are here again. The butcher’s shop is now the breakfast room and the dairy has become its kitchen!
